The former UK leader, kicked off the inaugural episode of her YouTube show with a promise to expose "those with ill intent" working to undermine Western democracies. Truss elaborated she would uncover how an "worldwide alliance of leftists operate to weaken democracy and the electorate's mandate."

"We will examine the political movement of Donald Trump and understand how it can be accomplished in Britain," the former PM stated. "Our guests will include the leading lights of the Make America Great Again campaign."

Before the show's launch, there was a notably ardent backer. "This is the beginning of a kind of revolution," stated John Solomon. His conservative Just the News will publish the former prime minister's new audio shows.

Building Connections in the Maga-Verse

UK-based allies, including a pro-Reform adviser, have also helped her launch the her new show. The setup is professional, though simple. The show has attracted a subscriber base of 10k in her debut week and her premiere had tens of thousands of views across the same period.

This represents a small opening, but in partnering with the journalist, she is being entering a established right-wing media network producing and amplifying Make America Great Again themes. Its obsessions include claims of media suppression by the established press and a goal to dismantle a so-called administrative state – which the ex-PM holds responsible for the abrupt termination of her disastrous time in office.

"Solomon's outlet is not widely recognized past the Maga-verse, but it does have influence there, largely because of John Solomon, who provides analysis on Maga platforms like the program hosted by Steve Bannon and has even spoken with Trump," commented Alex Hinton, who has analyzed the Maga movement.

A Divisive Associate

Her effort to import the pro-Trump media model to Britain has pushed her closer to contentious individuals such as John Solomon.

He established his media outlet following criticism following accusations of circulating misleading narratives about the President's actions in the Ukraine, as well as contentious articles about ex-ambassador to that country.

Solomon's reporting were echoed throughout the conservative press, with he appearing as a regular guest on the prominent cable news broadcast. Trump himself promoted the journalist's work.

Solomon made the Ukraine claims in a set of articles for the publication The Hill, where he was re-designated as an opinion writer when staffers raised concerns regarding his reporting. His claims were pivotal in Trump's pressure for the Ukrainians to investigate the Bidens in 2019. This pressure culminated in articles of impeachment against Trump. The Senate later voted to acquit the commander-in-chief.

Weeks after Solomon left the publication in October 2019, the outlet announced it was carrying out a review of his work concerning Ukrainian matters. It concluded the journalist had used questionable informants and said he "failed to identify crucial information about main Ukrainian informants, such as the reality that they had been charged or were being probed."

Entering the Ecosystem

His TV and radio guest spots are a sign of the political media environment Liz Truss is entering. He talked about his support for the program on a show he co-hosts on the conservative cable network, a rightwing cable channel that is the base for the conservative firebrand former adviser Steve Bannon and on which Tucker Carlson also appears. She has already hosted Bannon on a debut installment.

In linking up with the journalist and his outlet, Truss has become a minor player in a much wider network of pro-Trump platforms that frequently amplify each other's content.

Solomon's own broadcasts have repeatedly hosted figures such as Mike Benz, a rightwing influencer whose criticism of the US Agency for International Development was referenced by the tech billionaire as reasoning behind shutting down the foreign aid agency.

A Cross-Border Foray

Although Truss's stilted style and political travails have invited ridicule in Britain, certain American analysts do not dismiss her bid to revamp her image as a UK offshoot of the Make America Great Again press.

"One must regard individuals such as her with seriousness, even if you may not want to accept their words at face value," stated Rob Flaherty, who served in the Biden White House.

"It was evident how in 2024 the former president leveraged that alternative press to disseminate his views. Certainly that network exports and influences debate internationally. It appears fairly obvious to me that the conditions in the Britain are akin to what allowed this alternative media ecosystem to thrive here."

Professor Alan Finlayson, said the digital right-wing media sphere was already having an impact in Britain.

"Digital media transcends national boundaries," Finlayson remarked. "There is a certain atmosphere within which content circulates – at times appearing in harsh versions and other times more moderately – but which is interlinked."

The academic said the growth of the internet-based right wing in the United Kingdom in recent times meant the "potential to have a growing impact is significant."

A Transatlantic Ambition
